Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on various statutes, regulations, and case law pertinent to client engagements and internal EY matters.
  • Draft, review, and analyze legal documents, memoranda, contracts, and other correspondence with precision and clarity.
  • Assist senior legal counsel in advising clients on legal risks, compliance issues, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support due diligence efforts for transactions, mergers, and acquisitions by reviewing legal documents and identifying potential issues.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams across assurance, tax, and advisory services to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in legal regulations and industry best practices relevant to EY's service offerings.
  • Prepare presentations and reports summarizing legal findings and recommendations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage and organize legal documentation and case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of internal legal policies and training programs.
  • Participate in client meetings and calls, representing EY with professionalism and expertise.

Required Skills

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar, or eligibility for admission via reciprocity/UBE
  • 1-3 years of post-JD legal experience in a law firm, in-house legal department, or professional services firm
  • Strong legal research and analytical skills with proficiency in legal databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in corporate law, tax law, employment law, or regulatory compliance
  • Familiarity with the legal aspects of financial services or technology industries
  • Experience working in a Big Four firm or large consulting environment
  • Post-graduate legal degrees (e.g., LL.M.)
  • Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin, Cantonese, or other relevant languages for the Chinatown community
