Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local income tax returns for various entities, including corporations, partnerships, and individuals.
- Conduct thorough tax research and analysis, documenting conclusions and providing recommendations to clients on complex tax matters.
- Assist in tax planning and consulting engagements, identifying opportunities for tax savings and risk mitigation.
- Support senior team members in advising clients on the tax implications of business transactions and operational decisions.
- Communicate effectively with clients to gather necessary information, explain tax concepts, and address inquiries.
- Collaborate with colleagues across different service lines to deliver integrated solutions and exceptional client service.
- Stay current with changes in tax law and regulations, assessing their impact on clients and developing proactive strategies.
- Participate in client meetings and presentations, building strong professional relationships.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in tax preparation and/or consulting within a public accounting firm or large corporate tax department
- CPA certification or actively pursuing CPA licensure
- Strong understanding of federal and state tax laws and regulations
- Proficiency with tax compliance software (e.g., GoSystem, CCH Axcess) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and research skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication abilities
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and accuracy in all work performed
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Taxation (MST) or a Juris Doctor (JD)
- Experience with international tax concepts or specific industry sectors (e.g., entertainment, technology)
- Experience with tax provision calculations (ASC 740)
