Costco Wholesale is urgently seeking a highly vigilant and proactive Security Guard to join our dynamic team in Downtown, Little Rock. This vital role is central to maintaining the safety and security of our premises, protecting company assets, and ensuring a secure environment for all members, employees, and visitors. As a Security Guard, you will be a visible and approachable presence, actively deterring theft, preventing unauthorized access, and responding promptly and effectively to any security incidents or emergencies. Your responsibilities will extend beyond mere observation; you will be an integral part of our loss prevention strategy, conducting regular patrols, monitoring surveillance equipment, and enforcing company policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patrols of the premises, both inside and outside, to detect and deter security threats, maintaining a strong physical presence.
- Monitor surveillance equipment and alarm systems, responding promptly and appropriately to any irregularities or suspicious activities.
- Act as a visible deterrent to theft, vandalism, and other illicit activities, ensuring compliance with all company security policies.
- Respond effectively to emergency situations, including medical emergencies, fires, and security breaches, initiating necessary protocols.
- Assist in the apprehension and detention of individuals involved in theft or other criminal acts, following legal guidelines and company procedures.
- Prepare detailed and accurate reports of daily activities, incidents, and investigations, maintaining thorough documentation.
- Provide excellent customer service by assisting members and employees with inquiries, directing them, and ensuring a positive experience.
- Enforce access control policies, ensuring only authorized personnel and members enter restricted areas.
- Collaborate and liaise effectively with local law enforcement and emergency services as required during incidents.
- Ensure full compliance with all safety regulations, company security protocols, and relevant legal requirements.
Required Skills
- Strong observational and analytical skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, capable of clear and concise reporting.
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and decisive in high-pressure or emergency situations.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and make quick, effective decisions.
- Basic computer proficiency for report writing, email, and monitoring security systems.
- Physical fitness to stand, walk, and patrol for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs occasionally.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (1+ year) in security, loss prevention, or law enforcement.
- Valid state-issued security guard license or certificate for Arkansas.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of retail security best practices, procedures, and relevant legal frameworks.
- Experience with advanced surveillance technology and alarm systems.
