Job Description
Costco Wholesale is seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Forklift Operator to join our dynamic team in Cabot, Arkansas. In this vital role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of merchandise, materials, and products throughout our warehouse or distribution center. Operating various types of forklifts, including stand-up and sit-down models, you will play a crucial part in maintaining organized inventory, fulfilling orders, and supporting overall operational flow. Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks, order pickers) safely and efficiently to move, stack, load, and unload merchandise and materials.
- Transport incoming and outgoing products to designated storage areas or loading docks with precision and care.
- Perform daily equipment checks and minor maintenance (e.g., battery checks, fluid levels, reporting mechanical issues) and promptly report any malfunctions or safety concerns.
- Accurately record and document merchandise movement using manual or electronic inventory systems, ensuring data integrity.
- Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and maintaining a high level of inventory accuracy to support efficient stock management.
- Ensure proper storage and handling of all goods to prevent damage, reduce waste, and maintain a safe and organized working environment.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including OSHA regulations, to prevent accidents and promote a culture of safety.
- Collaborate effectively with warehouse team members, supervisors, and other departments to optimize workflow, resolve issues, and achieve daily operational goals.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring aisles are clear, pathways are unobstructed, and materials are neatly stored.
- Assist with other warehouse duties as needed, including manual lifting, packing, staging, and general labor to support overall operations.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid forklift operator certification/license
- Minimum 1 year (12 months) of experience operating forklifts in a warehouse or distribution setting
- Proficiency in operating stand-up and sit-down forklifts
- Strong understanding and adherence to safety protocols and procedures
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) as required
- Basic math and computer skills for inventory tracking
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with various types of material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, reach trucks)
- Familiarity with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
- Previous experience in a high-volume retail or wholesale distribution environment
- Ability to perform light maintenance on equipment
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and adaptability
