As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for operating various types of powered industrial equipment, including stand-up forklifts, reach trucks, and order pickers, to precisely move, stack, and retrieve products weighing up to several thousand pounds. You will work closely with our receiving and merchandising teams to efficiently unload incoming trucks, accurately verify incoming shipments against purchase orders, and strategically organize inventory within the warehouse and sales floor. A strong commitment to rigorous safety protocols and procedural compliance is paramount, as you will be operating heavy machinery in a bustling retail environment where both fellow associates and valued customers are present. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate forklifts, reach trucks, and other powered industrial equipment safely and efficiently, adhering to all company and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Load and unload merchandise from trucks, ensuring accuracy of counts and proper handling to prevent damage.
  • Transport materials to designated staging areas, storage racks, and sales floor locations.
  • Stack and organize products securely to maximize warehouse space and ensure accessibility for associates.
  • Perform daily equipment checks, including battery levels, fluid checks, and general operational integrity, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
  • Verify product counts and condition against shipping documents, noting any discrepancies.
  • Assist with inventory management tasks, including cycle counts, stock rotation, and maintaining accurate location records.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment in receiving, warehouse, and sales floor areas.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members across various departments to support store operations and customer service goals.
  • Assist customers and associates with locating and retrieving heavy or bulky merchandise as needed, ensuring safe loading procedures.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience operating forklifts, reach trucks, and other powered industrial equipment.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations and procedures, particularly regarding heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly and perform physical tasks for extended periods.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in verifying shipments and organizing inventory.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume retail and warehouse environment.
  • Basic computer literacy for inventory scanning, data entry, and using internal systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior certification in forklift operation (OSHA compliant).
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a retail or high-volume warehouse setting.
  • Familiarity with inventory management systems and RF scanning equipment.
  • Experience with various types of material handling equipment beyond forklifts (e.g., pallet jacks, order pickers).
