Key Responsibilities

  • Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) to load, unload, and move materials, packages, and freight.
  • Inspect forklifts daily, performing safety checks and reporting any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
  • Accurately scan, sort, and stage materials for shipping, receiving, or storage, ensuring proper inventory management.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to optimize workflow and meet operational deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring aisles and storage locations are free of debris and obstructions.
  • Verify product counts, identify discrepancies, and report any damaged or missing items.
  • Assist with manual loading and unloading of packages and freight when necessary.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance operational skills and safety awareness.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 6 months) operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment.
  • Valid forklift operator certification/license.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, safety protocols, and material handling procedures.
  • Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 70 lbs) independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
  • Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
  • Basic computer skills for scanning and data entry.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., WMS).
  • Familiarity with UPS-specific operational procedures.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
  • Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-volume shipping/receiving environment.
