Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., sit-down, stand-up, reach trucks) to load, unload, and move materials, packages, and freight.
- Inspect forklifts daily, performing safety checks and reporting any equipment malfunctions or maintenance needs promptly.
- Accurately scan, sort, and stage materials for shipping, receiving, or storage, ensuring proper inventory management.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
- Work collaboratively with team members, supervisors, and other departments to optimize workflow and meet operational deadlines.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring aisles and storage locations are free of debris and obstructions.
- Verify product counts, identify discrepancies, and report any damaged or missing items.
- Assist with manual loading and unloading of packages and freight when necessary.
- Participate in ongoing training and development programs to enhance operational skills and safety awareness.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 6 months) operating forklifts in a warehouse or logistics environment.
- Valid forklift operator certification/license.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, safety protocols, and material handling procedures.
- Ability to lift and move heavy packages (up to 70 lbs) independently and up to 150 lbs with assistance.
- Excellent spatial awareness and hand-eye coordination.
- Basic computer skills for scanning and data entry.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
Preferred Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Experience with inventory management systems (e.g., WMS).
- Familiarity with UPS-specific operational procedures.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
- Previous experience in a fast-paced, high-volume shipping/receiving environment.
