Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Logistics Coordinator to join our operational team in Scammon Bay, Bethel. This vital role will serve as a critical link in our service delivery network, ensuring the efficient flow of goods to and from this remote Alaskan community. As a UPS Logistics Coordinator, you will be instrumental in managing the complex daily operations, from coordinating inbound and outbound shipments to optimizing routes and ensuring timely deliveries. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and schedule the daily pick-up and delivery of packages and freight, optimizing routes for efficiency and timely service in a remote environment.
- Track and monitor shipments, providing real-time updates and resolving any transit issues, delays, or discrepancies promptly.
- Communicate effectively with drivers, internal departments, customers, and external vendors to ensure seamless logistics operations.
- Prepare and process all necessary shipping documentation, including manifests, bills of lading, customs forms, and other compliance-related paperwork.
- Maintain accurate records of all logistical activities, utilizing UPS proprietary software and other relevant systems.
- Ensure strict adherence to all transportation regulations, company policies, and safety standards, particularly those relevant to remote Alaskan operations.
- Proactively identify and address potential logistical bottlenecks, developing creative solutions to maintain service continuity.
- Assist in inventory management and warehousing tasks as needed, ensuring proper handling and storage of goods.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries and resolving complaints related to shipments with professionalism and efficiency.
Required Skills
- Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, transportation, or supply chain coordination.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and experience with logistics software or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Proven problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to operational challenges.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
- Previous experience working for UPS or another major shipping carrier.
- Familiarity with the unique challenges of logistics in remote or arctic environments.
