Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft, adhering strictly to weight and balance guidelines.
- Operate various ground support equipment (GSE) including pushbacks, belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts, ensuring proper maintenance and pre-operation checks.
- Perform wing walker and marshalling duties, guiding aircraft to and from parking positions with precision and safety.
- Place chocks and cones around aircraft; connect and disconnect ground power units and other service equipment.
- Maintain a clean and safe ramp environment, reporting any hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately.
- Adhere to all Delta Air Lines safety standards, policies, and procedures, as well as FAA regulations.
- Communicate effectively with flight crew, ground control, and other team members to ensure coordinated operations.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, wind, rain, and snow.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and maintain certifications.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an airport security badge.
- Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds repeatedly.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a ramp or airport operations role.
- Experience operating heavy machinery or ground support equipment.
- Familiarity with air cargo handling procedures, especially in remote or challenging environments.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse weather conditions.
