Key Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently load and unload baggage, cargo, and mail from aircraft, adhering strictly to weight and balance guidelines.
  • Operate various ground support equipment (GSE) including pushbacks, belt loaders, tugs, and baggage carts, ensuring proper maintenance and pre-operation checks.
  • Perform wing walker and marshalling duties, guiding aircraft to and from parking positions with precision and safety.
  • Place chocks and cones around aircraft; connect and disconnect ground power units and other service equipment.
  • Maintain a clean and safe ramp environment, reporting any hazards or equipment malfunctions immediately.
  • Adhere to all Delta Air Lines safety standards, policies, and procedures, as well as FAA regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with flight crew, ground control, and other team members to ensure coordinated operations.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme cold, wind, rain, and snow.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and maintain certifications.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an airport security badge.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds repeatedly.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, often under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a ramp or airport operations role.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery or ground support equipment.
  • Familiarity with air cargo handling procedures, especially in remote or challenging environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse weather conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving abilities.
