Key Responsibilities
- Safely load and unload luggage, mail, and cargo from aircraft, adhering to all weight and balance requirements.
- Operate various ground support equipment (e.g., tugs, belt loaders, pushback tractors) in a safe and efficient manner.
- Sort and transport baggage to designated areas, ensuring proper routing and timely delivery to connecting flights or baggage claim.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and airport procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Communicate effectively with team members, flight crews, and supervisors to coordinate ramp activities.
- Perform physical tasks including lifting, pushing, pulling up to 70 pounds regularly, bending, stooping, standing, and walking for extended periods in various weather conditions.
- Conduct pre and post-trip inspections of ground support equipment, reporting any malfunctions or damage.
- Assist with aircraft pushbacks and marshaling as required, ensuring clear communication and safe movements.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment on the ramp, including proper storage of equipment and disposal of waste.
Required Skills
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Possess a valid U.S. driver's license with a good driving record.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 70 pounds regularly and perform strenuous physical tasks.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow).
- Strong commitment to safety and adherence to all protocols and procedures.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate with diverse teams.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays, as airport operations run 24/7.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a physical labor role, warehouse, or airport operations environment.
- Experience operating heavy equipment or motorized vehicles.
- Familiarity with airport safety regulations and ground support operations.
- Ability to obtain and maintain airport security clearance (SIDA badge) and other required certifications.
