Key Responsibilities
- Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using various measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and specifications to ensure product compliance.
- Document inspection results accurately, including identifying and logging non-conformances or defects.
- Operate and calibrate quality control equipment, ensuring all tools are within specified tolerances.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct first-article inspections and provide feedback on initial production runs.
- Ensure adherence to all company quality policies, safety regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949).
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
- Maintain a clean and organized inspection area.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control or inspection within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Strong understanding and practical experience with various measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, optical comparators).
- Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
- Ability to identify and document defects and non-conformances accurately.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and report generation.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's degree in a technical field or relevant certification (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
- Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
- Familiarity with automotive industry quality standards (e.g., IATF 16949).
