Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of raw materials, in-process components, and finished products using various measurement tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and specifications to ensure product compliance.
  • Document inspection results accurately, including identifying and logging non-conformances or defects.
  • Operate and calibrate quality control equipment, ensuring all tools are within specified tolerances.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and supply chain teams to investigate root causes of defects and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Conduct first-article inspections and provide feedback on initial production runs.
  • Ensure adherence to all company quality policies, safety regulations, and industry standards (e.g., ISO/TS 16949).
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Maintain a clean and organized inspection area.

Required Skills

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in quality control or inspection within a manufacturing environment, preferably automotive.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong understanding and practical experience with various measurement tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, optical comparators).
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to identify and document defects and non-conformances accurately.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and report generation.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in a technical field or relevant certification (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
  • Experience with CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) operation.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles.
