Key Responsibilities

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance on factory machinery and equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults on production lines promptly and effectively.
  • Execute corrective maintenance and repairs, ensuring minimal disruption to production schedules.
  • Calibrate and adjust equipment to meet precise manufacturing specifications and quality standards.
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new machinery and production line upgrades.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports for all repair and service activities.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and environmental regulations and company policies.
  • Collaborate with production teams to identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and lean manufacturing practices.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production operators as needed.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Factory Technician, Maintenance Technician, or similar role in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Proficiency in electrical systems, including PLC control systems (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley).
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.
  • Solid understanding of health and safety regulations within an industrial setting.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience within the FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods) sector.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Forklift truck license or similar mobile plant certification.
  • Experience with Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
