Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Research Assistant to join our dynamic R&D team in Newcastle upon Tyne. Key Responsibilities
- Execute laboratory experiments and trials according to established protocols and safety guidelines.
- Accurately record, manage, and report experimental data, observations, and results.
- Prepare reagents, solutions, and samples for various analytical and experimental procedures.
- Operate and maintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Conduct preliminary data analysis and assist in the interpretation of results.
- Assist in the development and optimization of new experimental methods and protocols.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory workspace in compliance with EHS standards.
- Collaborate effectively with team members, including scientists, engineers, and technicians.
- Manage laboratory inventory, including ordering and stocking supplies.
- Contribute to scientific discussions and problem-solving sessions.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Material Science, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Demonstrated practical experience in a laboratory setting (academic or industrial).
- Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques and equipment operation.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data recording and experimental execution.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant scientific field.
