Key Responsibilities
- Design, write, and edit technical and user-friendly documentation for Google's products and services, including API references, developer guides, and user manuals.
- Collaborate closely with software engineers, product managers, and UX designers to understand product functionality and user needs.
- Simplify complex technical concepts and present them clearly and accurately to diverse audiences.
- Manage the documentation lifecycle from planning and creation to review, publication, and maintenance.
- Contribute to and maintain internal style guides, best practices, and content strategies.
- Proactively identify documentation gaps and propose solutions to enhance user experience.
- Participate in product reviews and provide feedback on UI text, terminology, and overall user flow.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a strong emphasis on clarity, grammar, and style.
- 3+ years of experience in technical writing for a software or technology company.
- Proven ability to understand complex technical concepts and translate them into easy-to-understand content.
- Experience with various documentation tools and content management systems (CMS).
- Familiarity with the software development lifecycle and agile methodologies.
- Ability to read and understand code snippets in languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript, or C++.
- A strong portfolio of relevant writing samples showcasing technical aptitude and writing proficiency.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, Computer Science, English, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience documenting APIs, SDKs, or cloud technologies.
- Familiarity with UX principles and user-centered design.
