Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and meticulous Quality Inspector to join our team in Ipswich, England, with an immediate start. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed visual and dimensional inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished products against engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards (e.g., AS9100, ISO 9001).
  • Utilize a variety of precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMMs, and other specialized tools.
  • Document inspection results accurately and thoroughly, preparing reports and maintaining inspection records.
  • Identify and report non-conforming materials or products, initiating corrective and preventive action requests (CAPA) as necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and supply chain teams to investigate root causes of defects and ensure effective implementation of corrective actions.
  • Conduct first article inspections (FAI) and provide feedback on manufacturing processes.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and company standards.
  • Assist in the calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the quality department and across the manufacturing process.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Quality Inspector in a manufacturing or engineering environment, preferably aerospace, automotive, or rail.
  • Strong ability to interpret complex engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications.
  • Proficiency in using a wide range of precision measuring equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, CMMs).
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Excellent attention to detail and meticulous record-keeping skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to quality issues.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with diverse teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • HNC/HND or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Formal training or certification in quality inspection (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Inspector).
  • Experience with CMM programming and operation.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
  • Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
