Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage proactively with customers, identifying their needs and providing expert product knowledge and recommendations.
  • Achieve and exceed daily, weekly, and monthly sales targets and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Process sales transactions accurately and efficiently using our point-of-sale (POS) system.
  • Maintain high standards of visual merchandising, ensuring products are well-displayed, priced correctly, and stock levels are optimal.
  • Assist with stock management, including receiving, unpacking, ticketing, and replenishing merchandise.
  • Handle customer inquiries, feedback, and complaints professionally and resolve issues to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment, assisting colleagues as needed.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities to enhance product knowledge and sales skills.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in a customer service or sales role (retail preferred).
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A strong passion for sales and achieving targets.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced retail environment.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to commit to flexible retail hours, including weekends and public holidays.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with POS systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience working in a homeware or general merchandise retail setting.
  • Familiarity with Briscoes product range and brands.
  • A track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales goals.
  • NZQA Level 2 Certificate in Retail (or equivalent).
