Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook a variety of dishes according to Marriott standards and recipes, ensuring high quality and presentation.
- Assist senior chefs in the daily operation of the kitchen, including mise en place and food preparation.
- Maintain strict adherence to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations (HACCP) within the kitchen area.
- Monitor food stock levels, assist with inventory management, and minimize waste.
- Ensure all food items are stored correctly and rotated to maintain freshness and prevent spoilage.
- Operate and maintain kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, reporting any malfunctions.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and front-of-house team to ensure smooth service delivery.
- Contribute to a positive and productive kitchen environment.
- Handle special dietary requests and allergens with precision and care.
- Continuously learn new cooking techniques and contribute to menu development discussions.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Cook or Commis Chef in a professional kitchen environment.
- Solid understanding of cooking methods, ingredients, and kitchen equipment.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation regulations (HACCP).
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Professional Cookery or equivalent culinary qualification.
- Experience working in a hotel or a high-volume restaurant.
- First Aid and Food Hygiene Certificates.
