Job Description
As a Front Desk Assistant at The Home Depot in Quebec City, you will be the welcoming face and primary point of contact for our valued customers. You’ll play a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience from the moment they walk through our doors or call us. This dynamic position involves assisting customers with inquiries, processing returns and exchanges, directing them to specific departments, and providing general administrative support. Key Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly upon arrival and offer assistance, creating a positive first impression.
- Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the appropriate department or associate with professionalism.
- Process customer returns, exchanges, and special orders accurately and efficiently, adhering to company policies.
- Provide comprehensive information regarding product availability, store layout, and various services offered.
- Resolve customer complaints and issues with professionalism, empathy, and a strong problem-solving attitude.
- Assist with cashier duties, including processing payments and handling cash, debit, and credit card transactions, if required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming front desk area, ensuring a pleasant environment for customers and staff.
- Collaborate effectively with sales associates, department supervisors, and other team members to ensure customer satisfaction.
- Handle general administrative tasks such as filing, data entry, managing incoming mail, and preparing reports.
- Educate customers on Home Depot services, ongoing promotions, loyalty programs, and warranty options.
Required Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills in both French and English (bilingualism preferred).
- Proven customer service experience in a retail or hospitality setting (minimum 6 months).
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a calm, composed demeanor under pressure.
- Proficiency with point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic computer applications (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Exceptional organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- A positive, approachable attitude and a strong, reliable work ethic.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift/carry up to 25 lbs occasionally.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a big-box retail or home improvement environment.
- Familiarity with home improvement products, tools, and services.
- Demonstrated ability to de-escalate difficult customer situations.
