Key Responsibilities
- Operate various types of forklifts (e.g., counterbalance, reach truck, order picker) in a safe and efficient manner.
- Load, unload, and move products and materials within the store and receiving areas.
- Verify merchandise quantity and quality against receiving documents.
- Organize and maintain proper product placement on shelves and in storage areas, ensuring accessibility and safety.
- Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Adhere strictly to all safety regulations, company policies, and provincial guidelines for material handling.
- Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate records of moved goods.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure efficient workflow and customer satisfaction.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Support other store operations as needed, including general merchandising tasks.
Required Skills
- Valid forklift operator certification for counterbalance and/or reach truck.
- Proven experience operating forklifts in a retail, warehouse, or distribution center environment.
- Strong understanding and commitment to workplace safety procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in handling merchandise.
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects (up to 50 lbs) regularly.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and physically demanding environment.
- Availability to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience with inventory management systems.
- Familiarity with various types of material handling equipment.
- Experience in a large retail or home improvement setting.
- First Aid and/or CPR certification.
