Key Responsibilities
- Receive, unload, and process incoming merchandise, verifying quantities against purchase orders and identifying any discrepancies or damages.
- Organize and maintain the stockroom, backroom, and sales floor inventory to ensure optimal storage and easy accessibility.
- Conduct regular cycle counts and physical inventories to maintain accurate inventory levels and resolve discrepancies.
- Utilize inventory management systems and handheld devices for tracking, scanning, and updating product information.
- Prepare and stage merchandise for placement on the sales floor, ensuring products are priced correctly and ready for customer purchase.
- Assist with the execution of store promotions and seasonal resets, involving significant inventory movement and reorganization.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety protocols and procedures, especially when handling heavy merchandise or operating equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with sales associates, department supervisors, and management to support store operational goals.
- Identify and report any inventory inaccuracies, stockouts, or overstock situations to the appropriate department.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, ensuring clear aisles and safe movement for associates and customers.
Required Skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in all tasks.
- Ability to lift and move merchandise weighing up to 50 lbs (22.7 kg) consistently.
- Basic computer proficiency for data entry and inventory system navigation.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic retail setting.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a retail, warehouse, or inventory control environment.
- Familiarity with inventory management software or systems.
- Experience operating material handling equipment (e.g., pallet jacks, lift trucks) is an asset (training provided if needed).
- Customer service experience.
