Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate a UPS package delivery vehicle, adhering to all traffic laws and company safety policies.
- Efficiently deliver and pick up packages from various residential and commercial locations along a designated route.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and accurately complete daily paperwork and manifests.
- Scan packages and obtain signatures using a handheld device, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
- Load and unload packages from the vehicle, often requiring lifting, carrying, and maneuvering items weighing up to 70 pounds.
- Provide exceptional customer service, addressing inquiries, and resolving delivery issues professionally.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both inside the vehicle and at customer interaction points.
- Adhere strictly to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company operating procedures.
- Collaborate with dispatch and other team members to optimize route efficiency and address delivery challenges.
- Represent UPS with a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid driver's license (CDL not required for this role, but must meet specific UPS driving requirements).
- Clean driving record for the past 36 months, free of major violations.
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 70 pounds regularly.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Strong time management and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of professional driving experience within the last 3 years.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Familiarity with the Omaha, Nebraska metropolitan area and surrounding routes.
- Experience operating commercial vehicles.
- Proficiency with handheld scanning devices and basic computer literacy.
