Job Description
Allied Builders System is urgently seeking experienced and highly skilled Carpenters to join our dynamic construction team in Honolulu, Hawaii. This is a unique opportunity for dedicated professionals who are passionate about their craft and eager to contribute to significant building projects across the islands. As a Carpenter with Allied Builders System, you will be instrumental in all phases of construction, from foundational work to finish carpentry. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
- Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood materials and other substitutes using hand tools, power tools, and machinery.
- Erect scaffolding and ladders for assembling structures at heights.
- Install structures and fixtures such as windows, doors, frames, flooring, trim, and hardware.
- Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
- Inspect and replace damaged framework or other structures and fixtures.
- Supervise apprentices and other construction workers.
- Ensure all work adheres to building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, including proper care for tools and equipment.
- Collaborate effectively with other trades and project team members to ensure project timelines are met.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical drawings
- Expertise in using various hand and power tools safely and effectively
- Strong knowledge of carpentry techniques and methods
- Understanding of building codes and safety regulations (OSHA)
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Physical stamina and strength to perform demanding tasks
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry
- Certification in construction safety (e.g., OSHA 10/30)
- Experience with diverse construction materials and modern building techniques
- Leadership experience or willingness to mentor junior carpenters
- Proficiency in English; additional language skills are a plus
