Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently transport bulk commodities over long distances, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of vehicles and equipment to ensure mechanical fitness, safety, and proper operation.
- Ensure timely and accurate delivery of goods, communicating any delays or issues to dispatch.
- Maintain accurate logbooks, manifests, and other documentation required for the transportation of goods.
- Adhere strictly to hours of service regulations to ensure compliance and personal safety.
- Handle cargo securely, ensuring proper loading, unloading, and weight distribution.
- Perform minor emergency roadside repairs when necessary.
- Represent Trimac Transportation professionally to customers and the public.
- Participate in ongoing safety training and adhere to all company safety protocols.
Required Skills
- Valid Class 1 Commercial Driver's License (or equivalent for British Columbia, Canada).
- Minimum of 2 years (24 months) verifiable long-haul commercial driving experience.
- Clean Commercial Driver's Abstract (driving record).
- Ability to operate manual transmission trucks.
- Strong understanding of federal and provincial transportation regulations (HOS, weights, etc.).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in English (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with bulk liquid or dry bulk transportation.
- Valid Hazmat/Dangerous Goods endorsement.
- Cross-border experience (Canada/US) is an asset, but not mandatory for BC-focused roles.
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs).
- Mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle maintenance.
