Job Description
We are actively seeking a highly motivated and experienced Project Engineer to join our dynamic construction team in Brampton, Ontario. This is an urgent hire for a critical role supporting our growing portfolio of complex commercial and institutional projects. As a Project Engineer with Turner Construction, you will be instrumental in the successful planning, execution, and completion of projects, ensuring they are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and clients, acting as a vital link between field operations and project management. This role demands a proactive individual with strong technical acumen, exceptional organizational skills, and a commitment to safety and operational excellence. You will be responsible for managing project documentation, assisting with scheduling, cost control, quality assurance, and fostering a collaborative environment to drive project success. Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction projects.
- Manage all project documentation, including RFIs (Requests for Information), submittals, change orders, and daily reports.
- Support the development and maintenance of project schedules, monitoring progress and identifying potential delays.
- Track project costs, review invoices, and assist in budget management and forecasting.
- Implement and enforce quality control programs, conducting regular site inspections to ensure adherence to specifications and standards.
- Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and site personnel to ensure efficient workflow and resolution of issues.
- Champion Turner's safety culture, ensuring all site activities comply with company and regulatory safety standards.
- Prepare comprehensive project reports, progress updates, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the close-out process, including punch lists, commissioning, and final documentation.
- Foster positive working relationships with clients, architects, engineers, and all project team members.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a Project Engineer or similar role within the commercial/institutional construction sector.
- Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, CMiC) and scheduling software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
- Strong understanding of construction methods, techniques, and safety regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and construction documents.
- Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or eligibility for P.Eng. in Ontario.
- LEED Green Associate or Accredited Professional certification.
- Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software.
- First Aid/CPR certification.
- Experience on projects valued over $20 million.
