Key Responsibilities
- Safely and efficiently operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) on dedicated routes, adhering to all federal, state, and local regulations.
- Transport goods for a single customer, ensuring on-time pick-ups and deliveries.
- Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the tractor-trailer unit and report any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate electronic logs (ELD) and all required paperwork.
- Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures, including hours of service (HOS) regulations.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members regarding load status, delays, and potential issues.
- Secure freight properly to prevent shifting and damage during transit.
- Represent Schneider and our customer professionally at all times.
- Be proactive in identifying and resolving potential problems on the road.
Required Skills
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Minimum 6 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience
- Clean driving record (MVR) with no serious violations
- Ability to pass a DOT physical and drug screen
- Strong understanding and adherence to DOT regulations and HOS rules
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle physical demands of the job (e.g., climbing, bending, lifting up to 50 lbs)
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of dedicated route driving experience
- Experience with electronic logging devices (ELDs)
- Hazmat endorsement (or willingness to obtain)
- Tanker endorsement (or willingness to obtain)
