Are you an experienced and compassionate Ultrasound Technologist looking for a dynamic role in a supportive healthcare environment? Merit Health is seeking dedicated Full-Time and Part-Time Ultrasound Technologists to join our diagnostic imaging team in Jackson, MS. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for performing a variety of ultrasound examinations to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of medical conditions. You will operate state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment, produce high-quality diagnostic images, and provide exceptional patient care, ensuring comfort and safety throughout procedures. Key Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations according to established protocols, including abdominal, pelvic, obstetric, vascular, and small parts studies.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality and performing routine quality checks.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Obtain and review patient history, medical records, and physician orders to ensure appropriate examinations are performed.
- Accurately record and document findings, measurements, and technical observations for physician interpretation.
- Collaborate effectively with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare team members.
- Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all infection control and safety standards.
- Participate in departmental quality assurance programs and continuous professional development.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in performing a wide range of ultrasound examinations.
- Strong knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
- Ability to operate and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- High attention to detail and strong observational abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer proficiency for documentation and record-keeping.
- Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification in multiple specialties (e.g., Abdomen, OB/GYN, Vascular).
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Sonography or a related field.
- Experience with advanced ultrasound techniques (e.g., elastography, 3D/4D imaging).
- Previous experience in an acute care hospital setting.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
