Key Responsibilities
- Accurately dispense prescription medications and provide comprehensive medication counselling to patients.
- Conduct thorough patient consultations, including drug therapy reviews, adverse effect monitoring, and disease state management.
- Maintain accurate patient profiles and ensure compliance with all provincial and federal pharmacy regulations.
- Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care and resolve medication-related issues.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians, assistants, and students, providing guidance and mentorship.
- Participate in health and wellness programs, including immunizations, health screenings, and patient education initiatives.
- Manage pharmacy inventory, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage of medications.
- Adhere to all Shoppers Drug Mart policies and procedures, maintaining high standards of professional practice.
- Address patient concerns and resolve issues effectively and compassionately.
- Stay updated on new drugs, therapies, and regulations through continuous professional development.
Required Skills
- Licensed and in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists (or eligible for licensure).
- Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy (BSc.Pharm).
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical practices, drug interactions, and therapeutics.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and dispensing technology.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Commitment to patient safety and customer service excellence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a community pharmacy setting.
- Additional certifications in specialized areas (e.g., immunizations, medication therapy management).
- Experience with pharmacy management systems like Kroll.
- Fluency in French is an asset.
