Job Description
We are urgently seeking a highly motivated and skilled Diagnostic Radiographer (Band 5/6) to join our dynamic and expanding Imaging Department within Aneurin Bevan University Health Board. Key Responsibilities
- Perform a comprehensive range of general radiographic examinations, ensuring high-quality diagnostic images.
- Operate and maintain a variety of imaging equipment, adhering to strict radiation protection regulations and safety protocols.
- Provide compassionate and clear communication to patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns.
- Accurately position patients for examinations, ensuring their comfort and safety throughout the imaging process.
- Evaluate images for technical quality and diagnostic accuracy, collaborating with radiologists as needed.
- Maintain accurate patient records and input data into the Radiology Information System (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).
- Participate in the training and supervision of student radiographers and less experienced colleagues.
- Contribute to departmental quality assurance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure the cleanliness and proper functioning of imaging rooms and equipment.
Required Skills
- BSc (Hons) in Radiography or equivalent / DCR.
- Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
- Demonstrable experience in general radiography (post-qualification experience is highly desirable, but newly qualified individuals are also encouraged to apply).
- Proficiency in operating various radiographic equipment and imaging techniques.
- Thorough understanding of radiation protection principles and patient safety guidelines.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a patient-centered approach.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with specialist modalities such as CT, MRI, or Fluoroscopy.
- Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
- Participation in clinical audits or service improvement projects.
- Working knowledge of NHS IT systems (e.g., RIS/PACS).
