Key Responsibilities
- Perform general labor duties at construction sites, including site clean-up, material handling, and debris removal.
- Assist skilled tradespersons (carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc.) with various tasks as needed.
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently under supervision.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials to and from work areas.
- Prepare construction sites by clearing obstacles, digging trenches, and setting up temporary structures.
- Follow all safety regulations and company policies to maintain a secure work environment.
- Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working order and stored properly.
- Support the efficient flow of work on site by anticipating needs and proactively assisting team members.
- Report any safety hazards or incidents immediately to a supervisor.
- Participate in daily toolbox talks and safety meetings.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience in construction or a related field.
- Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects (up to 50 lbs), standing for extended periods, and working in various weather conditions.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety procedures and protocols.
- Proficiency in operating various hand and power tools commonly used in construction.
- Reliable transportation to and from job sites in the New Orleans area.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- A strong work ethic and a commitment to quality craftsmanship.
Preferred Qualifications
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification.
- Experience with specific construction equipment operation (e.g., forklift, skid steer).
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
