Job Description

We are actively seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Veterinary Surgeon to join our thriving practice in Cardiff, Wales. Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive consultations, examinations, and diagnoses for small animal patients.
  • Develop and implement effective treatment plans, including medical and surgical interventions.
  • Conduct routine and emergency surgical procedures with proficiency and precision.
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging (radiographs, ultrasound) and laboratory results.
  • Administer vaccinations, preventative medicine, and manage chronic conditions.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with clinical standards.
  • Communicate effectively and empathetically with pet owners regarding diagnoses, prognoses, and treatment options.
  • Collaborate with veterinary nurses and support staff to ensure optimal patient care and clinic efficiency.
  • Participate in continuing professional development (CPD) activities to enhance clinical knowledge and skills.
  • Contribute to a positive and respectful work environment, fostering teamwork and collegiality.

Required Skills

  • Veterinary degree (MRCVS registered or eligible for registration in the UK)
  • Minimum 3 years of post-qualification experience as a Veterinary Surgeon
  • Proven experience in small animal surgery (routine and emergency)
  • Strong diagnostic and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Compassionate and client-focused approach to veterinary care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced diagnostic techniques (e.g., abdominal ultrasound)
  • Prior experience mentoring junior colleagues or students
  • Certificate or advanced qualifications in a specific veterinary discipline (e.g., ECC, Surgery)
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, multi-vet practice
