Key Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive site reconnaissance and in-depth due diligence studies to proactively identify project constraints, risks, and unique opportunities.
- Develop detailed engineering designs, prepare precise plans, specifications, and accurate cost estimates for a wide range of civil engineering projects, including residential, commercial, industrial, and municipal developments.
- Utilize advanced engineering software packages, including but not limited to AutoCAD Civil 3D, StormCAD, and WaterCAD, to efficiently prepare construction documents and sophisticated models.
- Conduct complex engineering calculations for critical systems such as stormwater management, sanitary sewer networks, potable water distribution, precise grading, and effective erosion and sediment control.
- Ensure all engineering designs and project deliverables strictly comply with relevant local, state, and federal regulations, codes, and specific client requirements.
- Prepare and meticulously submit permit applications to various regulatory agencies and provide timely, effective responses to their comments and inquiries.
- Collaborate effectively and professionally with clients, architects, contractors, regulatory officials, and other key project stakeholders to achieve common goals.
- Provide comprehensive construction phase services, including responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), meticulously reviewing submittals, and conducting regular site visits to ensure adherence to design intent and quality standards.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning, professional development, and knowledge sharing within the team.
- Manage project schedules and budgets diligently, ensuring the timely and cost-effective delivery of high-quality, innovative engineering solutions.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D for design and drafting.
- Strong fundamental understanding of site design, precision grading, and comprehensive utility layout principles.
- Demonstrated experience in stormwater management design, including detention/retention pond design, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling.
- In-depth knowledge of erosion and sediment control principles and best practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective internal and external collaboration.
- Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
- Strong analytical and advanced problem-solving capabilities.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal regulations pertaining to civil engineering projects in the US, particularly Idaho.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in Idaho, or a demonstrated ability to obtain licensure within 6-12 months.
- Experience with additional advanced modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, MicroStation, ArcGIS).
- Proven project management experience, including budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
- Previous experience working on civil engineering projects specifically within the Pacific Northwest region.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
