Key Responsibilities
- Carry out installation, maintenance, servicing, and repair of domestic gas appliances and central heating systems (boilers, fires, water heaters, etc.) in Gentoo properties.
- Conduct thorough Gas Safety checks (CP12s) and issue relevant certification in strict accordance with Gas Safe Regulations.
- Diagnose and resolve complex faults in gas heating and plumbing systems efficiently and safely, minimizing disruption to residents.
- Undertake planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive repairs across all Gentoo properties, ensuring operational efficiency.
- Ensure all work is completed to the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance with all industry regulations and company policies.
- Provide clear, courteous, and respectful communication with residents, explaining work undertaken and offering advice where appropriate.
- Manage and maintain accurate records of work completed, materials used, and safety checks using company systems.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota as required, responding promptly to emergency situations.
- Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and health and safety guidelines to maintain a safe working environment.
Required Skills
- Current Gas Safe Register accreditation is essential and must be maintained.
- NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing and Heating or equivalent relevant qualification.
- ACS qualifications covering domestic gas work (CCN1, CENWAT, CKR1, HTR1, CPA1).
- Minimum 4 years post-qualification experience as a certified Gas Fitter.
- Proven experience in fault diagnosis and repair of various gas heating systems and appliances.
- Full, clean UK driving license.
- Excellent understanding of gas safety regulations and relevant British Standards.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service.
- Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and collaborate as part of a team.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within a social housing or property management environment.
- Additional plumbing qualifications or demonstrable experience beyond gas fitting.
- Experience with smart heating controls, energy management systems, or renewable energy technologies.
- Current Asbestos Awareness training certificate.
- Current Manual Handling training certificate.
