Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, analysis, and validation of mechanical components and systems for industrial applications, ensuring robustness and reliability.
- Perform complex engineering calculations, simulations (e.g., FEA, CFD), and analyses to predict performance and optimize designs.
- Develop detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and documentation in accordance with industry standards and internal procedures.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and technical risks from conceptualization through to successful implementation and commissioning.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with R&D, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure design manufacturability and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous professional development.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex mechanical issues, proposing and implementing effective corrective actions and preventative measures.
- Stay abreast of new technologies, materials, and engineering methodologies to drive continuous improvement and innovation within the team.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in mechanical design and engineering within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD Inventor, CATIA, Creo).
- Demonstrated experience with FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) tools.
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, material science, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics.
- Experience with PDM/PLM systems for managing engineering data and processes.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to conduct root cause analysis.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree or Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng) designation in British Columbia or eligibility to obtain it.
- Experience with product lifecycle management (PLM) software.
- Knowledge of industrial automation, robotics, or complex machinery design.
- Familiarity with industry standards and regulations (e.g., ASME, CSA, ISO).
- Project management experience, including leading technical teams and managing project schedules.
