Job Description

Are you a highly experienced and passionate Cloud Engineer with a deep specialization in AWS and Google Cloud Platform (GCP)? Do you thrive on designing, implementing, and optimizing robust, scalable, and secure cloud infrastructures? IBM is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer to join our dynamic team in Mississauga, Ontario. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in architecting, deploying, and managing complex cloud solutions for our clients, leveraging your expert knowledge of both AWS and GCP ecosystems. You will take ownership of end-to-end cloud infrastructure projects, from initial design and proof-of-concept to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain scalable, highly available, and secure cloud infrastructure on AWS and GCP.
  • Architect and deploy cloud-native applications using services like EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, EKS (AWS) and Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, GKE (GCP).
  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation/Deployment Manager.
  • Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments and infrastructure provisioning.
  • Monitor cloud environments for performance, security, and cost optimization, implementing solutions to improve efficiency.
  • Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure seamless integration and adherence to best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to junior cloud engineers.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex cloud infrastructure issues, ensuring minimal downtime and business continuity.
  • Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and trends, evaluating and recommending new solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with organizational security policies and industry regulations (e.g., ISO, SOC2, GDPR).

Required Skills

  • 7+ years of professional experience in Cloud Engineering or a similar role.
  • Expert-level proficiency with AWS services (EC2, S3, VPC, RDS, Lambda, IAM, EKS, CloudWatch, etc.).
  • Expert-level proficiency with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services (Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, Cloud SQL, GKE, IAM, Cloud Monitoring, etc.).
  • Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools, particularly Terraform.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Extensive experience with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, Load Balancing) in cloud environments.
  • Experience with CI/CD tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
  • Deep understanding of cloud security best practices and implementation.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.
  • Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect or Google Cloud Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer.
  • Experience with multi-cloud environments including Azure.
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools like Ansible or Chef.
  • Experience in large-scale enterprise environments or consulting.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
