Meta is seeking an exceptional Data Scientist to join our dynamic team in Ottawa, Ontario. Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement end-to-end analytical solutions, from data extraction and transformation to statistical modeling and interpretation.
- Conduct deep-dive analyses to understand product performance, identify key drivers, and uncover opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and deploy machine learning models to solve complex problems, such as personalization, fraud detection, and content recommendation.
- Build and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualizations to monitor key metrics and communicate insights effectively.
- Partner with product, engineering, and research teams to define relevant metrics, design A/B tests, and analyze experimental results.
- Translate complex analytical findings and recommendations into clear, concise, and actionable business strategies for various stakeholders.
- Contribute to the data science community within Meta by sharing best practices, tools, and innovative approaches.
- Proactively identify and address data quality issues to ensure the reliability and accuracy of analytical outputs.
Required Skills
- 5+ years of experience in a Data Scientist or similar analytical role.
- Strong proficiency in SQL for data extraction and manipulation.
- Expertise in Python or R for statistical analysis, data modeling, and machine learning.
- Solid understanding of statistical methods (e.g., hypothesis testing, regression analysis, time series) and their practical application.
- Experience with machine learning algorithms and techniques (e.g., supervised, unsupervised learning, deep learning).
- Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Matplotlib, ggplot2).
- Proven ability to translate business problems into analytical frameworks and actionable insights.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex findings to diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s or Ph.D. in a quantitative field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Experience with large-scale data processing tools and technologies (e.g., Hive, Spark, Presto).
- Experience in product analytics, growth analytics, or user behavior analysis within a tech company.
- Familiarity with experimental design and A/B testing methodologies.
- Experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes.
- Contribution to open-source projects or academic publications in data science or related fields.
