This is a critical role responsible for safely transporting passengers across various routes within the Raleigh metropolitan area and connecting communities. Key Responsibilities

  • Operate transit buses safely and efficiently over designated routes and schedules in varying weather and traffic conditions.
  • Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, GoTriangle policies, and federal/state transportation regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service, including assisting passengers with boarding and alighting, answering questions, and announcing stops.
  • Collect fares, issue transfers, and manage passenger manifests as required.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, reporting any mechanical defects or safety concerns promptly.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly bus interior, ensuring a comfortable environment for passengers.
  • Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or incidents, following established safety protocols and reporting procedures.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and appearance at all times, representing GoTriangle positively.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs to enhance driving skills and safety awareness.

Required Skills

  • Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger (P) endorsement and Air Brake restriction removed.
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable commercial driving experience (bus driving experience preferred).
  • Clean driving record for the past three years.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen and ongoing random drug and alcohol tests.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety and passenger well-being.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Physical ability to operate a large vehicle, including sitting for extended periods and performing pre/post-trip inspections.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Experience operating transit buses in an urban environment.
  • Familiarity with the Raleigh and surrounding Triangle area road networks.
  • CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain).
