Job Description

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Operations to join our dynamic team in Seattle, Washington. This pivotal role is part of our extensive US Fulfillment Network, and while the position is based in our Seattle headquarters, it will specifically oversee and drive strategic operational excellence for critical regions, including key operational hubs like Dallas. The ideal candidate will be a transformational leader with a deep understanding of large-scale logistics, supply chain management, and operational efficiency, capable of leading complex initiatives across diverse geographical areas.

As the Director of Operations, you will be instrumental in optimizing our fulfillment processes, enhancing customer experience, and managing significant P&L responsibilities for a substantial segment of our operations. You will champion innovation, drive continuous improvement, and ensure that our operational strategies align with Amazon’s global objectives. This role demands a leader who can think strategically while also diving deep into tactical execution, fostering a culture of high performance and continuous learning among large teams. You will collaborate closely with various cross-functional teams, including technology, engineering, human resources, and finance, to deliver on our promise of speed and reliability to millions of customers. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute strategic operational plans to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service levels across the designated network, including the Dallas region.
  • Manage a large-scale operational budget, including P&L accountability, ensuring optimal resource allocation and financial performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of operations managers and leaders, fostering a culture of safety, engagement, and operational excellence.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to optimize processes and systems.
  • Collaborate with technology and engineering teams to implement innovative solutions and automation that scale our operations.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a safe working environment.
  • Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, opportunities, and risks, translating insights into actionable strategies.
  • Represent operations in cross-functional leadership forums, articulating strategic vision and aligning stakeholders on key initiatives.
  • Manage vendor relationships and third-party logistics partners to ensure seamless operations and service delivery.

Required Skills

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in operations management within a large-scale logistics, manufacturing, or e-commerce environment.
  • Proven track record of managing significant P&L responsibilities and driving cost efficiencies.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, develop, and inspire large teams (500+ employees).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in data-driven decision-making.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, capable of influencing at all levels.
  • Experience with Lean principles, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree (MBA) or equivalent advanced degree.
  • Experience with large-scale automated fulfillment systems and advanced robotics.
  • Global operational experience or experience managing geographically dispersed teams.
  • Strong understanding of Amazon's operational network and culture.
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP).
