Santander Consumer USA is seeking an experienced and dedicated Collections Specialist to join our remote team, working from home within Texas. In this vital role, you will be instrumental in managing and recovering outstanding balances, primarily related to automotive financing accounts. Key Responsibilities
- Manage a portfolio of delinquent automotive loan accounts, initiating contact with customers via phone to secure payment.
- Negotiate and establish suitable payment arrangements based on customer's financial situation and company guidelines.
- Accurately document all communication and actions taken on accounts within the company's collection system.
- Educate customers on their loan terms, payment options, and the consequences of non-payment.
- Adhere strictly to all state and federal collection laws and regulations, including the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
- Collaborate with internal departments to resolve customer issues and facilitate account resolutions.
- Maintain high standards of customer service while pursuing collections objectives.
- Meet or exceed daily, weekly, and monthly collection targets and performance metrics.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1 year of experience in collections, customer service, or a related financial role.
- Excellent verbal communication, negotiation, and active listening skills.
- Proven ability to maintain composure and professionalism in challenging situations.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail for accurate record-keeping.
- Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite) and comfortable with CRM/collection software.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
- Bilingual proficiency (English/Spanish) is a significant plus.
- Previous experience in automotive finance collections.
- Demonstrated experience working successfully in a remote or virtual team setting.
