Key Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough visual, dimensional, and functional inspections of incoming materials, in-process components, and finished goods according to established specifications, blueprints, and quality standards.
- Utilize various precision measurement tools and equipment (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges, optical comparators, CMMs) to verify product conformity.
- Document inspection results accurately and comprehensively, including identifying and reporting non-conformances with detailed descriptions.
- Initiate Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defective materials or products and actively assist in root cause analysis and the implementation of corrective/preventive actions (CAPA).
- Perform first article inspections (FAI) and in-process checks to ensure strict adherence to production parameters and process controls.
- Collaborate closely with production, engineering, and quality assurance teams to effectively resolve quality issues and drive continuous process improvements.
- Maintain inspection equipment by strictly following operating instructions, performing preventive maintenance, and coordinating calibrations.
- Participate actively in internal quality audits and support external regulatory audits as required to maintain compliance.
- Ensure unwavering compliance with all relevant industry regulations, company policies, and strict safety standards.
- Provide constructive training and guidance to production staff on critical quality requirements and proper inspection techniques.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) as a Quality Control Inspector, preferably in a manufacturing or scientific instrumentation environment.
- Strong understanding of quality control methodologies, including statistical process control (SPC) and lean principles.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting complex technical drawings, blueprints, and detailed specifications (GD&T experience preferred).
- Expertise in using precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, CMMs).
- Exceptional attention to detail and a consistently high degree of accuracy in all work performed.
- Ability to identify and document defects and non-conformances clearly, concisely, and accurately.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) for documentation, data analysis, and reporting.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and also effectively as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced manufacturing setting.
- Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in a technical field, Engineering, Quality Management, or a related scientific discipline.
- ASQ certifications (e.g., Certified Quality Inspector – CQI, Certified Quality Technician – CQT).
- Experience with ISO 9001, ISO 13485 (Medical Devices), or similar quality management systems and regulatory standards.
- Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP) in a regulated industry.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Quality Management System (QMS) software for data entry and analysis.
