Job Description
Are you a compassionate and reliable individual looking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others? Bayshore Home Health is seeking dedicated Part-Time Companion Caregivers to join our team in Regina, Saskatchewan. This role is perfect for someone who genuinely enjoys connecting with seniors and individuals needing support, providing non-medical assistance that enhances their daily lives and promotes independent living. As a Companion Caregiver, you will be a vital source of comfort, companionship, and practical support, helping our clients maintain their dignity and enjoy a better quality of life in their own homes.
Your day-to-day will involve more than just tasks; it’s about building relationships and fostering a sense of well-being. You will provide social interaction, engage in stimulating activities, and assist with various household duties that enable clients to remain comfortable and safe. This can include anything from sharing a conversation over a cup of tea, assisting with meal preparation, light housekeeping, or accompanying clients on errands and appointments. Key Responsibilities
- Provide companionship and emotional support to clients through meaningful conversation and engagement.
- Assist clients with light housekeeping tasks, including tidying living areas, dusting, and vacuuming.
- Prepare nutritious and appetizing meals and snacks according to client preferences and dietary needs.
- Assist with grocery shopping and other errands, ensuring clients have necessary supplies.
- Accompany clients to appointments, social outings, or community events.
- Engage clients in stimulating activities such as reading, games, hobbies, or light exercise.
- Provide medication reminders, ensuring clients adhere to their prescribed schedules (no administration).
- Monitor and report any changes in the client’s physical condition, cognitive function, or behaviour to the supervisor.
- Ensure a safe, clean, and organized environment for clients.
- Document care activities and observations accurately and promptly.
Required Skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a friendly and respectful demeanor.
- A compassionate, empathetic, and patient approach to client care.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage time effectively.
- Comfortable assisting with light household duties and basic meal preparation.
- Ability to maintain client confidentiality and uphold professional ethics.
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (paid or unpaid) in a companion care, personal support, or similar role.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Current First Aid and CPR certification.
- Knowledge of common senior health challenges and basic safety protocols.
- Successful completion of a criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening.
