Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook complete meals or individual dishes and foods, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to White Spot's recipes and standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, ensuring all food preparation areas are sanitized and up to health code standards at all times.
- Operate various kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, including grills, fryers, ovens, and mixers.
- Monitor food inventory, assist with ordering supplies, and minimize waste through proper portion control and storage techniques.
- Collaborate effectively with kitchen staff, including other cooks, prep cooks, and dishwashers, to ensure smooth service flow.
- Handle and store ingredients properly to maintain freshness and prevent contamination.
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations, including HACCP principles.
- Adapt to changing menus, special requests, and high-volume periods with professionalism and efficiency.
- Assist with receiving and stocking deliveries, ensuring accuracy and proper rotation of products.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Cook in a fast-paced kitchen environment (1+ year preferred)
- Strong knowledge of cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and culinary techniques
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and in a high-volume setting
- Excellent knife skills and understanding of kitchen safety procedures
- Current Food Safe Level 1 certification (or willingness to obtain immediately)
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Legally entitled to work in Canada
Preferred Qualifications
- Completion of a culinary arts program or equivalent apprenticeship
- Experience in a casual dining restaurant setting
- Knowledge of White Spot's menu and brand standards
- Red Seal certification is an asset
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
