Job Description

As a Civil Engineer with AECOM in Vancouver, you will play a crucial role in contributing significantly to a diverse portfolio of civil engineering projects. Key Responsibilities
- Perform complex civil engineering analyses and design for diverse infrastructure projects, meticulously applying Canadian codes, standards, and regulatory frameworks.
- Develop comprehensive detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports for various civil infrastructure projects, including roads, highways, bridges, transit systems, water/wastewater conveyance and treatment facilities, and extensive urban and suburban land development schemes.
- Utilize advanced engineering software packages such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, MicroStation, and InRoads for sophisticated design, 3D modeling, and thorough analysis.
- Collaborate effectively and seamlessly with multidisciplinary teams, including architects, environmental scientists, structural engineers, transportation planners, and urban planners, ensuring integrated project solutions.
- Conduct thorough site investigations, precise topographic and utility surveys, and rigorous construction inspections to ensure strict compliance with design specifications, quality standards, and all relevant regulatory requirements.
- Prepare compelling project proposals, accurate cost estimates, and articulate technical presentations for a diverse audience of clients, governmental bodies, and key stakeholders.
- Proactively manage project tasks, resources, and schedules to ensure efficient and timely delivery of projects, consistently adhering to established budget constraints and quality benchmarks.
- Actively engage with clients, governmental and regulatory agencies, and contractors to facilitate necessary project approvals, permits, and smooth execution of construction phases.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technical staff, fostering a collaborative, supportive, and knowledge-sharing professional environment.
- Continuously stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technological advancements, and best practices in the field of civil engineering, contributing to continuous improvement.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university or college.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive, hands-on experience in civil engineering design, analysis, and project delivery.
- Demonstrable proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation for complex civil design tasks.
- Strong fundamental understanding of civil engineering principles, theories, and widely accepted practices.
- Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving, and sound decision-making skills.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills for effective collaboration and reporting.
- Proven ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively within a dynamic team setting.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- Active Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in a Canadian province, or a clear eligibility for registration with Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) upon arrival.
- Significant prior experience with Canadian engineering standards, building codes, and intricate regulatory approval processes.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including comprehensive budgeting, intricate scheduling, and effective client relationship management.
- Proficiency with specialized hydraulic modeling software (e.g., HEC-RAS, StormCAD, WaterCAD) or other advanced civil engineering design and analysis tools.
- Previous experience working on large-scale, complex infrastructure projects in an international or cross-border context.
