Job Description

The University of Prince Edward Island (UPEI) is seeking highly motivated, innovative, and experienced academics to join our distinguished faculty as University Professors. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and deliver high-quality undergraduate and graduate courses, ensuring curriculum currency and pedagogical excellence.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research, securing external funding, and disseminating findings through peer-reviewed publications, conferences, and other scholarly activities.
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, fostering their academic and professional development.
  • Participate actively in departmental, faculty, and university-wide committees and service roles.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, program review, and accreditation processes.
  • Engage with the local and broader academic communities through outreach, partnerships, and knowledge transfer initiatives.
  • Maintain an active and visible presence within your academic discipline, both nationally and internationally.

Required Skills

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in a relevant academic discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated excellence in university-level teaching, with evidence of effective pedagogical practices.
  • A strong record of scholarly achievement, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and/or successful grant applications.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor students effectively.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to collegiality and a collaborative work environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Post-doctoral experience or significant professional experience relevant to the academic field.
  • Experience in securing external research funding.
