Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department for assigned client portfolios.
  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, ensuring compliance with IFRS/ASPE (or equivalent Canadian standards) and company policies.
  • Conduct thorough financial analysis and provide insights to support business decision-making for clients.
  • Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and other financial records.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, and monitor financial performance against these targets.
  • Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring efficiency and accuracy.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant provincial and federal tax regulations in Canada.
  • Mentor and provide guidance to junior accounting staff, fostering their professional development.
  • Support year-end audit preparations and liaise with external auditors.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard financial assets.
  • Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve financial processes and systems.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance roles.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Legally authorized to work in Canada (Deloitte will provide support for eligible US citizens).

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation (or actively pursuing).
  • Experience with Canadian tax regulations and financial reporting standards (IFRS/ASPE).
  • Previous experience in a public accounting firm or a multinational corporation.
  • Familiarity with cross-border financial operations and reporting.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Business Administration.
