Job Description

UPS is seeking a motivated Full-Time Driver to join our dynamic team in Belfast, Northern Ireland. As a UPS Driver, you will be the face of our company, responsible for the timely and efficient delivery and collection of packages to and from various commercial and residential locations across a designated route. Key Responsibilities

  • Safely operate a UPS vehicle to deliver and collect packages along a pre-assigned route, adhering to strict schedules and safety guidelines.
  • Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, ensuring it meets all safety and operational standards.
  • Sort and load packages onto the delivery vehicle according to delivery sequence and weight, optimizing space and efficiency.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with customers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues efficiently.
  • Accurately record package information, delivery status, and payment details using hand-held devices.
  • Handle all packages with care, ensuring their integrity from collection to delivery.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both in the vehicle and at the depot.
  • Adhere to all traffic laws, company policies, and governmental regulations.
  • Assist in the training of new drivers as required.
  • Effectively manage time and route to ensure all deliveries and collections are completed within the designated timeframe.

Required Skills

  • Valid full UK driving license (Category B minimum, C1 preferred for larger vehicles).
  • Minimum of 2 years of driving experience with a clean driving record (no more than 3 penalty points in the last 5 years).
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry packages weighing up to 70 lbs (32 kg) regularly.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong time management and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional Saturdays.
  • Geographical knowledge of Northern Ireland, particularly the Belfast area, is a significant advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a multi-drop delivery or courier role.
  • Experience operating commercial vehicles.
  • Experience with hand-held delivery technology or GPS navigation systems.
  • Manual handling training certification.
