Job Description

We are urgently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Publicity Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Oshawa, Ontario. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the development and execution of strategic publicity campaigns for a diverse roster of artists.
  • Draft compelling press releases, media alerts, artist bios, and other promotional materials.
  • Proactively pitch stories and secure media coverage (print, online, radio, TV) for artists and releases.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media contacts, bloggers, and influencers.
  • Organize and coordinate artist interviews, press conferences, and promotional appearances.
  • Manage and update media databases, ensuring accurate and up-to-date contact information.
  • Monitor media for artist mentions and campaign results, compiling comprehensive press reports and analytics.
  • Support the social media team by providing publicity-driven content and insights.
  • Assist with event planning and on-site coordination for media events, showcases, and album launches.
  • Handle administrative tasks, including managing schedules, coordinating travel, and processing expenses.
  • Stay informed on industry trends, emerging media platforms, and new opportunities for artist exposure.

Required Skills

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in publicity, public relations, or media relations, preferably within the music or entertainment industry.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to craft compelling narratives.
  • Demonstrated ability to secure media placements across various platforms.
  • Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google Workspace.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • A deep passion for music and a comprehensive understanding of the current music landscape.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
  • Existing network of media contacts within the Canadian music scene.

  • Prior experience working at an independent record label or music-focused PR agency.
