Job Description
Are you a highly motivated, music-obsessed individual with an ear for fresh talent and a passion for artist development? The Shed Studios is seeking a dynamic A&R Intern to join our dedicated team in Kitchener. This immediate start internship offers an unparalleled opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the independent music industry, working closely with artists and producers. While the role traditionally aligns with scouting for record labels, at The Shed Studios, you’ll apply those same core A&R principles to help us identify, nurture, and support local and regional musical talent. You’ll contribute to our mission of discovering the next big sound, assisting artists through their creative journey, and expanding our studio’s artistic network. Key Responsibilities
- Scout and identify promising new musical talent across various genres within Kitchener and the surrounding Ontario region through online platforms, live showcases, and local events.
- Review and evaluate demo submissions, providing insightful feedback and recommendations to the production team.
- Assist in the development and mentorship of signed or prospective artists, contributing to their artistic direction and brand identity.
- Support the studio's outreach efforts, building relationships with artists, managers, promoters, and other industry professionals.
- Conduct market research on music trends, artist performance, and competitive landscapes to inform strategic decisions.
- Assist with social media content creation and digital marketing initiatives focused on artist promotion and studio highlights.
- Provide administrative support to the production team, including scheduling, database management, and project coordination.
- Attend studio sessions, live performances, and industry events to gain comprehensive exposure to the music production and talent acquisition process.

- Active participant in the local music scene in Kitchener/Waterloo or surrounding areas.
