Job Description

Carefor Health & Community Services is looking for enthusiastic Home Health Aides (often referred to as Personal Support Workers in Ontario) to join our dynamic team in Ottawa. This role requires travel to various client homes within the Ottawa region, making a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide personal care including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting assistance.
  • Assist clients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using appropriate techniques and equipment.
  • Support clients with light housekeeping, meal preparation, and feeding as needed.
  • Administer medication reminders and assist with simple assigned medical procedures, under supervision.
  • Engage clients in social activities, conversations, and light exercise to promote mental and physical well-being.
  • Monitor and report changes in client's physical, emotional, or mental condition to the care coordinator.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for clients.
  • Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner according to Carefor's policies.
  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations and infection control protocols.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, families, and other healthcare team members.

  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
  • Demonstrated empathy, patience, and sensitivity towards clients.

  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting and transferring clients.
  • Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) certificate or equivalent from a recognized institution.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Previous experience (6+ months) working as a Home Health Aide, PSW, or in a similar caregiving role.
  • Proficiency in both English and French is an asset.
