Job Description

The CIUSSS du Centre-Sud-de-l’Île-de-Montréal is urgently seeking motivated Patient Care Technicians (known as ‘Préposé aux bénéficiaires’ in Quebec) to join our dynamic teams across various facilities. Key Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, and mobility.
  • Monitor and record vital signs, observe changes in patient condition, and report any concerns to the nursing staff.
  • Assist with patient transfers, positioning, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment, including changing linens and tidying patient rooms.
  • Support patient comfort by responding to call bells promptly and providing emotional support and companionship.
  • Assist with meal service, ensuring patients receive appropriate diets and providing feeding assistance as needed.
  • Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner according to established procedures.
  • Collaborate effectively with nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to ensure continuity of care.
  • Adhere to all infection control protocols, safety regulations, and CIUSSS policies.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to care planning as appropriate.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a recognized Patient Care Technician (Préposé aux bénéficiaires) training program or equivalent.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in French (oral and written).
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and demanding healthcare environment.
  • Strong empathy, patience, and a compassionate approach to patient care.
  • Physical ability to perform duties, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated reliability and punctuality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset.
  • Previous experience working in a hospital, long-term care facility, or other healthcare setting.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Additional specialized certifications relevant to patient care.
