Job Description
Are you an experienced and proactive Human Resources professional looking for an immediate opportunity to make a significant impact? Cavendish Farms is seeking a dedicated HR Generalist to join our dynamic team in New Annan, Prince Edward Island. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in supporting our workforce and contributing to a positive and productive work environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in various HR functions, including full-cycle recruitment, comprehensive employee relations, performance management, training and development, and HR policy implementation and administration. Key Responsibilities
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, from job requisition and posting to interviewing, selection, and onboarding of new hires.
- Provide expert guidance and support to employees and management on HR policies, procedures, and best practices, ensuring fair and consistent application.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR programs and initiatives that support organizational objectives.
- Handle a wide range of employee relations issues, including conflict resolution, investigations, disciplinary actions, and grievance procedures.
- Administer benefits and compensation programs, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and employee understanding.
- Support robust performance management processes, including goal setting, performance appraisals, feedback mechanisms, and development plans.
- Coordinate and facilitate various training and development programs for staff, fostering continuous learning and skill enhancement.
- Maintain accurate and confidential HR records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy regulations.
- Ensure strict compliance with all federal and provincial employment laws, regulations, and reporting requirements, particularly within Prince Edward Island.
- Actively participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing efficiency and employee satisfaction.
Required Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar comprehensive HR role.
- Strong understanding of HR functions, principles, and best practices across the employee lifecycle.
- In-depth knowledge of Canadian employment laws and regulations, specifically the Prince Edward Island Employment Standards Act.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills, with the ability to build rapport at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with the utmost discretion and professionalism.
- Proficiency in HRIS systems and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and proven ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making abilities, with a proactive approach to challenges.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Certified Human Resources Professional (CHRP) or Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation, or actively working towards certification.
- Prior HR experience within a manufacturing, industrial, or food production environment.
- Familiarity with Workday or other major enterprise-level HRIS platforms.
- Bilingualism (English/French) is considered a valuable asset.
