Key Responsibilities

  • Warmly greet and welcome guests upon arrival, processing check-ins and check-outs efficiently and accurately.
  • Handle guest inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and professionally, ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Manage reservations, including inputting, modifying, and canceling bookings, and assigning rooms.
  • Answer multi-line phone systems, direct calls, and take messages accurately.
  • Process payments, handle cash, and maintain a balanced till.
  • Provide comprehensive information about hotel facilities, services, and local attractions in Portland.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and inviting front desk area.
  • Collaborate with other hotel departments (housekeeping, concierge, maintenance) to fulfill guest needs.
  • Adhere to all hotel security, safety, and confidentiality policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management to support hotel operations.

Required Skills

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 6 months of customer service experience, preferably in hospitality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly and professional demeanor.
  • Proficiency in basic computer operations and ability to learn property management systems (PMS) quickly.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience as a Hotel Front Desk Clerk or in a similar role.
  • Familiarity with OnQ or other hospitality-specific PMS software.
  • Associate's degree or certification in Hospitality Management.
  • Multilingual abilities are a plus.
